Major Developments at the MRF in Johnstown

CWM has invested a million pounds in developing the operations at their MRF in Johnstown. Many of you participated in the County’s ‘Blue Box’ Scheme, your dry recycet was segregated at the kerbside into stillages on Carmarthenshire County Councils collection lorry. it was then transported to our MRF for bulking up and sending back to reprocessing manufacturers.

Kerbside collections have changed! Your mixed recycling is now collected in Blue Bags and transported to the MRF. Every month CWM receives up to 1,000 tonnes of Blue Bags which undergo a process to segregate the different type of materials such as Plastic, Paper, Cardboard and Cans.

It has been essential that CWM changed its method of operations to cope with the extent of co-mingled recycling which replaced source segregated recycling.
