Owen Bowen

Interim Managing Director

Sean Gallagher

Operations Director 
Sean is a Chartered Waste Manager who has nearly 20 years of corporate experience the last 10 being in the waste management industry. Previous positions include a combination of operational, project management, health, safety and environmental roles.

Sean has seen the waste management industry change significantly at this time, relishing the challenges and is excited about future opportunities. He understands how rewarding it is to be part of a team that affords the opportunities to its employees to develop and progress.

In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, live music and camping in exciting new places!

Kath Ogden

Finance Director 
Kath trained as a Chartered Accountant and has a vast amount of experience in the accounting and finance issues facing small and medium-sized businesses.

In her spare time, she rides and enjoys the countryside with her horse and runs her own smallholding and likes to travel.

Dave Gilbert OBE

Non-Executive Director Chairman
Dave retired from the role of Deputy Chief Executive at Carmarthenshire County Council in 2015 after 12 years with the Authority. He had also worked in Neath Port Talbot and Swansea since moving to Wales in 1992. He is also currently a Board member of Swansea Bay City Region and recently joined the advisory Board of the Port Talbot Enterprise Zone.

In 2012 Dave was awarded an OBE for services to Regeneration and Skills in West Wales.
Originally from Hereford he is still a season ticket holder at Hereford FC and a regular at Llandovery RFC.

Dudley Thomas

Non-Executive Director
Company Secretary 

Chartered Accountant he has had over 45years experience in finance, both in the profession and as Company Secretary of the largest tyre distributor in Wales for ten years until 1984 when he joined a large professional accountancy practice in Carmarthen where he is now Senior Partner.

During his time with CWM he has also developed a great interest and knowledge of recycling ,which plays a very important part in the company’s strategy, in addition to the everyday lives of the nation as a whole.

Our Management Team

Penny Weaver

Household Waste Recycling Centres Manager 
Penny has over 25 years experience working in the environmental sector, she joined the company as a MRF supervisor before moving up to become the HWRC manager.

In a relatively short time Penny has continued to improve the HWRC sites recycling efficiency and is dedicated to further improvements both at the sites and in staff development.

In Penny’s spare time she enjoys walking and reading crime thrillers.

Bruce Creamer

Materials Recycling Facilities Manager 
Bruce joined CWM in 2002 as a Landfill Operative and progressed to more responsible positions and into recycling roles as the recycling division grew. Now as the MRF Manager, he has been instrumental in the development of both New Materials Recycling Facilities.

He’s committed to continual improvements to increase efficiency and safety for his team.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling & weight training and can usually be found on the family farm with his wife and children.

Michelle Ashley

Human Resources Manager

Michelle has over 13 years of Human Resources and Training experience and has a genuine passion for HR and being able to help Business’ maximise performance through assisting Managers to empower and engage teams to retain talent.

She has been a member of the CIPD since 2004 and believes in creating positive learning environments so that everyone, both internal and external, has a positive experience with the Business. Michelle provides managers with advice and frameworks to achieve the overall vision by utilising and enhancing the skill sets of the most important part of an organisation – its employees.

In her spare time Michelle likes to run competitively and spend time with her family and friends.

Darren Sanders

Compost Manager

Darren has over 15 years’ experience in the recycling industry, he joined CWM in 2010 as part of the HWRC team and progressed on to composting after achieving qualifications in sustainable resource management. Now WAMITAB certified he has taken on the role of composting manager.

In his spare time Darren enjoys cycling, mountaineering, camping and wood working.

Michelle Thomas

Health & Safety Manager

Michelle has over 6 years experience within the Health and Safety Industry.

Prior to this Michelle Worked in the Warehousing and Distribution Sector for over 20 years. 

Michelle’s qualifications include Nebosh General Certification, Nebosh Environmental Certification, ILM Supervisory and Management along with IRCA Internal Auditor. Michelle is also currently studying Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice.

Her Hobbies Include Rallying (Co Driver), Karate, Trail Biking, Walking her two English Bull Terriers and spending time with her family.

Rosalin Lewis

Accounts Manager

Rosalin has over 20 years accounting experience, she joined the company in 2006 as an accounts assistant before becoming the accounts manager in 2012.

Her attention to detail and pleasant manner when dealing with customers and suppliers  ensures all transactions are completed in a timely, accurate and effective fashion.

In her spare time she enjoys watching murder mysteries.

Sion-Aled Higgins

Transport Manager

Sion-Aled has 6 years’ experience in the transport sector, having previously gained a BSc (hons) Transport Management from Swansea metropolitan University.

Having gained his degree he then undertook is Certificate of professional competency in Road Haulage for Transport Managers.

In his spare time Sion-Aled is an avid rugby follower having played, coached and refereed the game.

 

Claire Mainwaring

Weighbridge and Data Manager 

Claire joined the company in 2000 as an Administration Assistant and worked in various admin roles along with setting up the weighbridge office in Trostre.  She briefly left the company to pursue a different role in the waste industry and successfully obtained her Certificate in Professional Competence in Road Haulage.  In 2005 Claire was asked to return to work for CWM again in the role of Administration Assistant but in a more data orientated role, she has also gained her WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence – Managing Transfer Hazardous Waste and also her IOSH – Managing Safety.  Claire has now successfully been in the role of Weighbridge and Data Manager, managing the four weighbridges across the company ensuring accuracy of information reporting.  She has also helped the company achieve the Green Compass PAS402 standard.

In her personal life Claire is a mother of 3 grown up children and an extending family!  Her interests are music, reading and a variety of crafts. Along with spending time with her family and 3 dogs.

Adam Jones

Commercial Manager

Adam has over twenty years’ worth of experience within the recycling and waste industries. He has worked at strategic management level for a range of organisations in both the public and private sectors. Adam took up the role of Commercial Manager at CWM Environmental Ltd during November 2018.
