Job description

As a Weighbridge Operator at CWM Environmental, I play an important role in keeping our sites running smoothly and efficiently. Based at our Nantycaws site, I manage the flow of vehicles entering and leaving the facility, ensuring waste movements are recorded accurately and safely. From checking documentation and directing drivers to supporting customers and contractors, no two days are ever the same. Working closely with site teams, I help maintain high operational standards while ensuring compliance, organisation, and excellent communication remain at the centre of daily operations, all while supporting a more sustainable future.

My Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Managing vehicles entering and exiting the site through the weighbridge system
Recording waste movements and ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant
Directing drivers, contractors, and visitors safely around the site
Supporting customers and answering queries in a professional and helpful manner
Monitoring site traffic and maintaining safe vehicle movement procedures
Working closely with operational teams to ensure smooth day-to-day site activity
Assisting with administration, reporting, and general site coordination

My Journey to Where I Am Now:

My career background is in retail management, where I developed strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills in fast-paced customer-focused environments. Before joining CWM Environmental, I worked as a Store Manager at Morrisons, overseeing daily operations, managing teams, and ensuring high standards across the store. That experience taught me how to work under pressure, solve problems quickly, and manage competing priorities effectively. Since joining CWM, I’ve built a strong understanding of site operations, waste management processes, and environmental compliance, allowing me to apply my previous experience in a completely new industry while supporting the Circular Economy and sustainable resource management.

What I Love About My Role & Challenges:

I enjoy the variety that comes with the role and being part of a busy operational environment where no two days are the same. The weighbridge is at the centre of site activity, so you get to work with lots of different people and play an important part in keeping everything running efficiently. The role can be challenging at times, especially during busy periods when there are multiple vehicles and tasks to manage at once, but that’s also what makes it rewarding. Knowing you’re contributing to a safer, more organised, and more sustainable operation gives a real sense of pride.
